Marc Deschenaux is a Swiss jurist and a world-renowned expert in high finance.
He is the Founding Partner of Deschenaux, Hornblower & Partners (DH&P), an International Jurist Firm with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and offices in New York and Los Angeles.
He is widely regarded as one of the major experts in initial public offerings and a point of reference in securities, financing and trading law.
His expertise covers contract law, international corporate, governmental financing, bank syndication, non-profit law and global IP and securitization.
As an international financier, he is recognized for his state-of-the-art structures which have resulted in 179 successful IPOs and 243 private offerings – around two-thirds of these in private equity, and one-third in private debt.
He has organised several government loans, as well as the first national debt cancellation in history.
It is his negotiating skills and his background that set him apart from other lawyers. At the age of 15 years old he programmed a software (that was then used in a popular video game) for several hundred thousand dollars. Which he wisely used to self-finance his education.
He then founded several companies. Including Beat Perfumes, S.A., which created the Michael Jackson Perfume, and CD World Corporation. As President and Founder of CD World, Marc invented The MusicPointTM, a digital kiosk.
Later, Marc was chairman and founder of Investraders International Corporation, an investment bank in Geneva (Switzerland) specializing in distributing private offerings and organizing IPOs.
After graduating in law at the University in Geneva, he joined a traditional law firm (Schwab Flaherty & Associés) and then quickly struck out on his own as a jurist.
Having worked as a non-bar lawyer (also known as jurist) for five years, he believes that he has discovered a business model that will permit DH&P to provide the legal and financial services companies need but cannot obtain from other firms.
Today, as “a man of action”, he applies the lessons he has learned in a lifetime of entrepreneurship for the benefit of his clients.
One of these lessons is that litigation always represents a failure that could be avoided with proper counsel.
Another lesson is that without failure there can be no success.
Marc is a native French speaker, and is able to carry out high level negotiations in English, Spanish and Italian. He has knowledge of German and Arabic. His Chinese is in progress.
EDUCATION: PhD candidate in law at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, master’s degree in economic law, certification in transnational law, certification on the “Leading with Finance” course at Harvard Business School.
Mr Deschenaux was registered as a general securities representative (series 7) and general securities principal (series 24) by the North American Securities Dealers Association. He was a member of the National Investment Banking Association.
HONORS: Mr Deschenaux was elected to the International Who’s Who of Professionals (1999), and in 2003 he was invited by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission to speak at the 22nd Annual Government Business Forum on Small Business Capital Formation.
He was the treasurer, and a judge-mediator, at the International Court of Mediation and Arbitration (CIMEDA) from 2012 to 2020. He is now an Ambassador of the African Court of Mediation and Arbitration (CAMAR).
